Finding the Right Mindset for a 30 Day Challenge
64This hub is created on the first day of a 30 Day HubPage Challenge. Folks who are part of the HubPage community understand what this thirty day challenge is all about. For those of you who are not part of the HubPage community, it’s all about writing 30 new hubs (articles) in thirty days.
Non HubPage Specific Info
I’m done with HubPage specific talk. Let’s change the 30 day HubPage challenge to the 30 day fitness challenge, or the 30 day stop smoking challenge or even the 30 day be nice to the spouse challenge. Choose your activity and do it (or not do it) for 30 days.
The one thing all of the challenges have in common aside from the thirty day time frame is whether or not you rise to the challenge. Whether you decide to exercise for 30 days or quit drinking for 30 days, it’s all about successfully completing the challenge.
Finding the Right Mindset
There is a saying that goes “Whether you believe you can or you believe you can’t, you’re right.” In other words, your thoughts will direct you to victory or failure. If you allow thoughts of “I can’t do it” or “I’ll try” or “What’s the worst that will happen if I don’t succeed” you’re already doomed. Don’t allow doubt or failure to creep into your mind. Once it gets there it’s like an insidious weed that attempts to take over your thoughts.
Instead of focusing on the failure, focus on the success. Think about day number 31. Think about how great you’ll feel after 30 days of no smoking or 30 day of regular exercise. Think of the financial rewards of successfully completing the 30 day HubPage challenge.
If you go in with a mindset of failure, how are you ever going to succeed?
Be Your Own Mental Body Guard
If you’re fortunate enough to have a supportive group of friends, family or colleagues to get you through the thirty day challenge, you’re in good stead. However, if you have to go it alone, you have to be your own mental body guard. When you find yourself engaged in self doubt, thinking of failure or wanting to give up, talk to yourself. Yes, open your mouth and talk out loud. Don’t speak your fears, speak your achievements. It’s tough to speak victory and think failure.
Back to the HubPage 30 Day Challenge
When I was first approached with joining the 30 day challenge, I tried to build a back door. I actually wrote “What’s the worst that will happen…I only create 10 hubs and earn money off of those?” That statement is a prediction of failure. After reading it I realized that I had two choices:
- Don’t join the 30 day challenge (put it off until I could get my mind on board)
- Think thoughts of victory and complete the 30 day challenge.
Guess which one I chose?
